Programmes at Bhawanipur Brahmo Samaj (Paddmapukur)
On 26th July, 2019 in the evening Bhawanipur Brahmo Samaj (Paddmapukur) celebrated birth anniversary of Gyanodanandini Debi by felicitating three ladies closely associated with Brahmo Samaj. Gyanodanandini Debi was wife of Satyendranath Tagore and a leading personality who worked on women’s education and emancipation during late 19th century. The programme started with chanting of hymns and a Brahmasangeet “Pratham karan” written by Satyendranath Tagore was sung. Sri Tathagata Sen narrated a brief life sketch of Gyanodanandini Debi. Sri Prasun Ganguly formally introduced Smt. Krishna Hazra, Smt. Manjula Datta and Smt. Alpana Roy and they were felicitated with flowers and gifts. All three ladies shared their earlier memories with Brahmo Samaj and Shantiniketan. Songs were sung by Smt. Kamalika Bandopadhyay, Smt. Sarbani Roy, Sri Subhasish Banerjee, Sri Romil Majumdar and Sri Arindrajit Saha.
On 8th August, 2019 in the evening a programme was organized to commemorate death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at the Bhawanipur Brahmo Samaj (Paddmapukur). Sri Tathagata Sen readout from the writing of Rabindranath Tagore on the importance of “Briksharopan Utsav”. Sri Arindrajit Saha and Sri Subhasish Banerjee chant the hymns. Few trees were planted on this occasion. Songs and poems written by Rabindranath Tagore on Rainy Season were sung and recited by Smt. Supriya Mukherjee, Smt. Kamalika Bandopadhyay, Smt. Sarbani Roy, Sri Romil Majumdar, Sri Subhasish Banerjee, Sri Manaswai Choudhuri, Sri Soupayan Pal and Sri Arindrajit Saha. Sri Arindrajit Saha played violin and Sri Sajal Mitra performed on “Khol” during the programme.
Onthe occasion of 73rd Independence Day, on 15th August, 2019 at 6.30 in the evening a programme was arranged at Bhawanipur Brahmo Samaj (Paddmapukur). The programme started with chanting of hymns by Sri Arindrajit Saha and Sri Subhasish Banerjee. Various songs on that occasion were sung and in the end “Bharatsantan” the full song was sung by Smt. Kamalika Bandopadhyay, Sri Arindrajit Saha, Sri Subhasish Banerjee and Sri Manaswi Choudhuri.
Briksha Ropan Utsava at Brahmo Balika Shikshalaya, Montessori Section
On the occasion of Lady Abala Bose’s birthday on 8th August, 2019 “Briksha Ropon Utsava” at Brahmo Balika Shikshalaya, Montessori section was organized. At 11.30 am the programme started after a brief prayer offered by Smt. Sunanda Chatterjee after that Sri Subrata Kumar Datta, Secretary of the managing committee delivered a brief lecture. Smt. Mousumi Roy, Asst. teacher narrated on life and work of Lady Abala Bose and the importance of trees. Students performed dance drama. Trees were planted by guests, teachers and students. A large number of guardians, teachers from secondary section and guests from Sadharan Brahmo Samaj attended the programme.
